The Thatch – Croyde

Emma Stevens, an amazing singer-songwriter whom I came to know after running the sound desk for her gig at the Farnham Maltings a year or so ago, got in touch and asked if i’d like to come down to Devon with her to support her for a gig at The Thatch. I’m a very keen surfer and love that area of England so I jumped at the chance. A couple of weeks later, we piled heaps of gear and merch into my car, put the surfboards on the roof and got on the road.

Cue a weekend of stunning sunsets, amazing accomodation and food courtesy of The Thatch, great sessions in the surf, spending a little too much on a new longboard and a very fun gig!

We were joined by a local lass, Sophie Barker, as a second support, who also sung a couple of tunes with Emma to end the night. I always enjoy hearing Emma play, so to get to support her again and head into the waves was brilliant.
